The watercolor technique was developed in China in the 2nd century AD, after the invention of paper.

Watercolor was only considered a painting technique from the 19th century onwards. XVIII, but it was in the XIX century, in England that its current practice took place.

With the Industrial Revolution came the first watercolor paper pressed by a steam machine and the creation of a color mixer.

The greatest watercolorist of all time was the English painter Joseph William Turner, who has more than 19,000 watercolors
