BUTOH

BUTOH, also known as ''Darkness Dance'' is a dance that emerged in post-war Japan and gained international recognition in the 1970s. Butoh is inspired by avant-garde movements, expressionism, surrealism, constructivism, among others.

Butoh manifests what is universal, what is human in its essence. Thus, both for the butoka (dancer) and for those who see him dancing, the social masks are torn off, and the truth of each one is brutally unveiled, causing, consequently, a kind of inner turmoil that forces him to leave the conformations in search for the real me.
